Solar Panel Grants and Schemes

The cost of installing solar panels is often a top concern for homeowners looking to live a greener lifestyle. But recently updated grants and schemes including ECO4 and LAFLEX will provide more people with solar panel access over the coming years.

Through the ECO4 Scheme, the government allocated £4 billion toward the installation of solar panels and heat pumps across the UK between April 1 2022-2026. UK homeowners also have a greater chance of receiving this grant due to LAFLEX. This lets councils decide what the eligibility criteria should be depending on the needs and specific circumstances of people in the area. The previous criteria was much narrower, meaning many households missed out on funding. This is bolstered by the fact that Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced in March 2022 that the VAT for solar panels has gone down to 0% for a five-year period.
